Framing the new view of Queens

The multi-story residential new building offers a different kind of inside outside experience in comparison to the other new buildings going up in this area. The planes of color that divide the units seem to lift and hold the planes that contain the outside space to the inner inside private living space.

Terracotta and various porous and opaque metal panels make up the building planes. The building is set so that the outside “balcony” spaces make for a lighter street wall. As you walk on the street you can look up through the planes and see sky. The setback for these outdoor spaces exchanges with the rear setback so no floor area is lost per the developers wishes.
